Overview

A striking fusion of rustic tradition and refined design, this handmade platter from Tamegroute showcases the classic “half-glazed” look: one side glazed in lush, deep green glaze, the other revealing warm, raw clay. Its generous size and organic texture make it perfect for shared meals, mezze spreads, or as a decorative centerpiece.

Artisan Craftsmanship

Hand-crafted in the pottery village of Tamegroute, each platter is shaped from local clay and partially glazed by hand before being wood-fired in traditional kilns. The half-glaze technique, a hallmark of Tamegroute pottery, produces unique variations in glaze flow, speckling, and clay tone. These natural variations ensure every platter is one-of-a-kind, carrying the soul of Moroccan craftsmanship

  • Because each platter is handmade in small batches, slight irregularities are expected. These are not defects, but signs of authentic craftsmanship.

STORY: Tamegroute is a small village located in the Draa River valley in southern Morocco - just outside the Sahara Desert. Within the main square of Tamegroute, you find 7 ovens which belong to the only 7 pottery families. Each family has 1 oven and their own "showroom" built of clay. The trade is carried over between generations.

Tamegroute pottery are true showpieces showing that even imperfect can be perfect - no two pieces will be identical.
