TUAREG TENT POST | The nomadic Tuareg span several countries across the Sahara. These posts, hand engraved with tribal motifs, have a few uses. We learned that this variety is made of Jdari wood and was actually used for either a luggage rack or a camel palanquin. One end is forked where a frame will rest while the other is carved like a mushroom so the structure will not sink into the sand.
Depending on the tribe making the post, the sculptures feature different shapes and symbols personal to the group.
